About Us

Korros Ensemble is a beautiful, yet unusual, combination of flute, clarinet and harp. Three dynamic musicians met whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music and they founded The Korros Ensemble in 2001. Korros was formed with a strong vision of introducing something new and exciting to the chamber music world. There was very little existing music written for this combination of instruments, so they focused their immense energy into arranging some of their favourite works. They also work closely with a number of composers, and original pieces have been composed especially for them by Nathan Rose (BBC Young Composer of the Year), Richard Peat and Seanine Joyce. Their collaboration with the Ballet Rambert resulted in another three commissions by Philip Venables, Naomi Pinnock and Patrick Nunn. Korros recitals present the highest standards of musical excellence, combined with a fresh approach to audience communication. They have performed in concert at venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Birr Castle and Killaloe Cathedral in County Clare, Ireland and various music festivals around the UK. More recent endeavours have included a performance of Debussy’s Sonata for Channel 4, the premiere of a new work at London’s Tate Modern and a tour of Ireland. Invitations to give returning recitals are testament to their success in the concert hall. They have also embarked on a nation-wide series of educational workshops and concerts for young people. This has extended to several recital tours of Camphill Communities throughout England and Scotland and will be an ongoing project for Korros.
